1970

Thomsons continue with the annuals using reprints of Watkins' work. They continue to do this until 1979 when they gradually phased out Watkins work by mixing it in with replacement artists. There is a noticeable decline in quality of the cover artwork and the strips during this period as DC Thomson use different artists.

The last annual with Dudley Watkins reprints.

I don't like to be too critical but, compared to Watkins' work, the strips by replacement artists included in this book are mostly appallingly bad ('though admittedly better than I could do ).

New artists, poor 'artwork', weak storylines. Who cares?

The 1990's annuals are a common sight on E-Bay.
They are easy to find hence their value is low.

1994

This is the last book to have the poem/song page on the reverse of the inside title page

1995

From this year the books contain 95 strips (used be 94) because the first strip is now printed on the reverse of the inside title page.

2000

The 2000's annuals are a common sight on E-Bay.
They are easy to find hence cheap to buy.
