These fantastic painted portraits came up for sale at a compal comic auction in May 2005.
It was believed they were the original drawings used for the cover of the first Broons book in 1939 but I compared the images and found slight differences (click on the images to see the comparisons).

Who's Been Eating My Sandwich - original art used in The Skipper 1933
An original cowboy artwork signed by Dudley Watkins.
Writing on drawing indicates it was used in The Skipper Issue 166 which would make it late 1933

The Oor Wullie strip was printed in the Sunday Post24 September 1944 and the Our Gang panel is from a two page story as printed in The Dandy Comic around about 1940.

The following images are by Dudley Watkins' sister, Dorothy Eva Watkins.
These are part of a Children's Series of Valentine's Postcards published around the early 1950's by Valentine & Sons Ltd, Dundee .
