OOR WULLIE No.1 (The first book in the series)

This is an original 1940 book and is my own copy.

The book is complete and intact.
The interior pages are very clean and creamy white with slight darkening around edges.

The only significant defects are:-
Someone has sellotaped the spine at some time. Most of the sellotape is now removed but some gum marks remain.
Approximately one third of the spine material has been lost.
There are two small tears to the front cover; one approximately 20mm long and another approx. 8mm long.

I have the contact details for a master book restorer in Glasgow who could repair all these defects such that they would be barely detectable. I decided not to have the restoration carried out myself because not everyone agrees with it as a practice. Personally I don't mind but with a book of this value I prefer to play safe.

Notes:
This book is extremely rare. I can't be certain how many copies exist but I believe the total number of surviving copies to be in single figures. This is one of only four paperback copies that I am aware of *.

I suspect a primary reason for it's low survival rate is the fragility of it's construction. The interior of the book is similar to contemporary books but the outer cover is quite thin card. As with all the early books the spines split easily and break away. The spine here is in reasonable condition but as stated above has been sellotaped sometime in the past.

I am open to sensible offers. If you have looked around the site you should know that two copies of the book that came on the market in recent years sold for around £4000.
I am in no real hurry to sell so it will probably stay advertised here for a while. It is not advertised elsewhere.
